Dear T (Part 20 in a 26-part series)

Dear T,

You are nothing but a common prostitute, T. As common as the village bicycle, you are. That is, you are the most commonly occurring consonant in the English language. To make your shape with one’s hands during a game of charades means “the,” which not only starts with you, the most common consonant, but is itself the most common word used in the English language! I also rather despise the digraph th. Probably another reason I wasn’t meant to speak English as a first language.
Okay, enough abou
t your whorish ways, T. Let’s get on to the more positive things about you. You are, at least, quite constant. Throughout the ages, your shape and sound have been fairly consistent. T, you are also my favourite letter to reproduce in sign language, because the word “toilet” was the first word I learned in ASL.
You bring me such wonderful words as
tiny, tissue, Thessalonica, and Torchwood. Writing would be immensely difficult without you.
Thanks for being a whore, T!

Ta-ra,
Pea
